Why iron and oxygen work together
Your blood carries oxygen to every cell in your body. It does this through two routes:
Red blood cells
Iron builds haemoglobin — the molecule inside red blood cells that binds to oxygen and carries it around your body. When you're iron deficient, your haemoglobin is low, and this route can't deliver enough oxygen. That's why you feel exhausted, foggy, and breathless.
Blood plasma
Oxygen can also dissolve directly into your blood plasma — the liquid part of your blood. This route is separate from red blood cells entirely. Under normal conditions, very little oxygen travels this way. HBOT changes that.
IronOx: both routes at once
An iron infusion gives your body the iron it needs to rebuild haemoglobin and restore route one — but this takes 1–2 weeks. During that window, HBOT floods route two with dissolved oxygen, delivering it directly through your plasma while your red blood cells catch up.
What is IronOx Therapy?
IronOx combines your iron infusion with a complimentary session of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) at the same clinic — with the option to add a 10-session Course. HBOT suitability is reviewed within your pathway and every chamber session is booked separately.
Your infusion and 30-minute monitoring happen first. Your complimentary HBOT session — plus any Course sessions — is arranged for a later appointment, never on the infusion day. Dr Ros is confirming the standard clinical timing window; staff will advise you individually meanwhile.

What to expect during HBOT
You relax inside a comfortable, soft-sided pressurised chamber and breathe normally. That's it. No needles, no anaesthetic, no preparation needed.
As the chamber gently pressurises, oxygen dissolves into your blood plasma at levels far beyond what normal breathing achieves. Most patients read, scroll their phone, or simply rest. The only sensation is mild ear pressure — similar to taking off in an aeroplane — which passes quickly.
After your session, you walk straight out. No recovery time, no side effects for most patients. You can drive, work, and carry on with your day immediately.

HBOT involves breathing concentrated oxygen in a pressurised chamber. This delivers dissolved oxygen directly into your blood plasma, independent of red blood cells. Each session lasts approximately one hour. It is used in clinical settings worldwide for a range of conditions.
Your complimentary HBOT session and any Course sessions are booked as separate appointments after your infusion — not on the infusion day. The clinic confirms suitable timing and availability with you; an exact post-infusion window is awaiting Dr Ros's clinical confirmation.
HBOT is a well-established therapy used in NHS hospitals and private clinics. Side effects are uncommon and typically mild — temporary ear pressure (similar to flying) is the most frequently reported. Dr Ros will review your suitability before starting any HBOT sessions.
