Iron deficiency care for Torfaen, without the wait
Cwmbran was built from scratch as one of Britain's post-war new towns, and it has grown into Torfaen's largest community — a busy, well-connected place with one of the biggest shopping centres in the region. What it does not have is a clinic devoted to iron infusion therapy.
When a Cwmbran GP suspects iron deficiency, the usual route is a referral into Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, where waits for haematology can run to 12–18 months. That is a long stretch to push through fatigue, breathlessness and brain fog when a straightforward treatment is available far sooner. Our specialist iron infusion service in Cardiff is around 30 minutes away, with appointments this week and no GP letter required.
IronOx Clinic is the UK's only independent iron infusion hospital — a clinic that does one thing and does it properly, with a doctor overseeing every infusion. For people across Torfaen, that short trip down the valley opens up care that simply isn't on the doorstep.

Travelling to the clinic from Cwmbran
By car (around 30 min)
From Cwmbran, head south on the A4042 towards Newport, then join the M4 westbound. Leave the motorway for central Cardiff and follow the A4161 round to Cathedral Road in Pontcanna. With clear roads the whole drive is around half an hour — and it is mostly dual carriageway and motorway.
Parking: There is free on-street parking on Cathedral Road and the quiet residential streets around it, plus pay-and-display bays near Sophia Gardens and Pontcanna Street if you would rather book a space.
By train
Cwmbran station sits on the line towards Newport. Take a Transport for Wales service to Newport, then change onto a fast Cardiff Central train. From Cardiff Central, the clinic is a short walk or quick taxi ride along Cathedral Road.
Tip: If you are coming straight from work or the shops in the town centre, the car is usually the simpler option given the single change by rail — but the train is a relaxed alternative if you would rather not drive afterwards.
